 TRAM

Athens, one of Europe's oldest capitals, has more than 3 million inhabitants. The city hosted the Olympic Games in August 2004.

The original tram network consisted of 3 lines (3, 4, 5):

- opened 19 July 2004
- standard gauge

- route length: 27 km
- rolling stock: Sirio trams (Ansaldobreda) - 32 m long, 2.40 m wide; Alstom Citadis X05 - 33.4 m long and 2.40 m wide

Extension to Pireaus (2.5 km) eventually opened in late 2021, introducing lines 6 and 7:

06 Dec 2021: Gipedo Karaiskaki stop
15 Dec 2021: Pireaus loop without definitive terminus at Akti Poseidonos
18 Feb 2026: Akti Poseidonos terminus served
